USA 2008 - Day 15
Part 1
Bisti Wilderness Area
Started the day in the Bisti Badlands - 45000 acres of undulating mounds of rock and photogenic eroded rocks hidden away in the desert of north West New Mexico. Time and the elements have etched a wonderful fantasy of shapes. You have to walk a mile or so across the Gateway Wash to get to some of the more interesting banded and sculptured sandstone. I appeared to be the only human being around for most of the time and the Bisti area takes you back some 70 million years. You could be on a another planet at times. I always kept an eye open for the odd Tyrannosaurus Rex hiding behind a large Hoodoo! I only really scratched the surface of this area in the 3 hours I was here. Worth a longer visit.
