USA 2008 - Day 15
Part 2
I stopped off on my journey to Holbrook at Gallup to view the murals that decorate various walls in the town. Gallup was founded in 1891 as a rail head for the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad.
It's located right in the middle of the heart of native American indians i.e. Navajo, Hopi Zuni etc. The famous Route 66 runs through the town and the film 'natural born killers' was partially shot in here.
The Downtown Mural Project retells the history of Gallup. It was commissioned in 2005 to capture the heritage of the area and the locations of the murals are all within easy walking distance of each other.
