USA 2008 - Day 7
Early start down the Turquoise Trail and first a stop for a picture of the old Santa Fe Prison made infamous in 1980 when 33 inmates were killed in a riot -the worst in US history. Then a visit to Cerrillos but I was too early for the Mining Museum and Petting Zoo so I only got some outside shots.
In 1988 the small town was used in the film -Young Guns . This area holds one of the worlds greatest concentration of turquoise.
Just before I reached Madrid i came across a real roadside oddity - Tiny Town - made of discarded toys, bones, bottles old cars, and a huge array of cast-off material. It was created by Tammy Jean Lange a local tattoo artist. Well worth a stop.
