USA 2008 - Day 4
It's a very photogenic journey, especially in the fall when the colours are magnificent. There is an open gondola for those passengers interested in taking video or stills. With luck you also may see some wildlife - from deer to bears. On this trip we only managed to see some mule deer. Some of the rock formations are interesting too. The zigzaging of the route makes the journey interesting with 11 crossings into New Mexico. There are a couple of tunnels too to go through. Overall well worth a day trip if you're anywhere nearby. It was in 1970 that the railroad started to organise the trips for tourists.
