USA 2008 - Day 3

After arrival in Antonito just after lunch I first sorted my Motel and bought my ticket for the important train journey next day. Then I visited Cano's castle - a remarkable 'building'. It was built by Donald ' Cano' Espinoza a native American Vietnam veteran. The 'castle' is made of old beer cans, car hubs, bits of aluminum etc etc. Most of his materials are donated or scrounged. The two main 'buildings' are called the King and Queen. Antonito is mainly known as one end of the famous Cumbres and Toltec railway ( day 5 ) but Donald reckons his castle will be the biggest attraction in town. To end a busy day I drove West along route 17 to photograph the beautiful autumn colours - a prelude to day4
