USA 2008 - Day 22

An early stop on the way north to Page was a visit to Sunset Crater. The volcano first erupted in 1064 and the last major one was in 1180 raising the cone to almost 1,000 feet.
Then I had a 100 mile drive to Lees Ferry and the Vermillion Cliffs for a few pics before the final run to Page. Just before you get to Page on the 89 is Horseshoe Bend - there is a 3/4 mile walk from the parking area to some spectacular views of the Colorado River - be careful though it's a 500 ft drop!
As I wanted to try for a permit to visit the 'wave' I then went straight to the BLM Paria Station for information. Then I finished the day with some images of the nearby Toadstools Route.
