Not the best of games and not one which will be remembered for too long but three vital points for City. With Leicester parking the bus in front of their goal for most of the first half it was a battle to get any chances in the final third. 42 year old Veteran keeper Mark Schwarzer saved Leicester on several occasions but he could not stop Silva from scoring in the very last seconds of the first half. It was his 10th league goal of the season and he had a great game. City were lucky not to concede at least one penalty and Hart had to make one very good save so despite having little of the play Leicester could feel a little unlucky to be behind at half time. Milner made the game safe with two minutes to go after a great cross from Navas. Leicester had more of the play in the second half but the new look defence managed to keep them at bay. The dropping of Zabaleta and Kompany after the Liverpool defeat was a bit unexpected. Aguero was a bit below par while Bony will need more starts to reach his best form.
City made five changes from the Liverpool game and Bony had his first start
Leicester had a good number of fans for this midweek fixture
City had several early corners but as usual nothing came of them!
Leicester claimed a penalty when Bony clashed with Schlupp who went down after 22 minutes
a minutes or so later Hart had to make a brilliant save at the feet of Kramaric as Leicester broke away in a counter attack
On 34 minutes Bony has an effort saved by the keeper
a minute later and Schwarzer is in action again making a good save from a shot by Navas
On 41 minutes a great ball from Silva finds Bony who brings the ball down.......
...and shoots but alas the ball goes well wide!
As we enter the one minute of added time at the end of the first half Bony's shot is blocked but the ball runs to Silva who has the easiest of tasks to score from close range
That was Silva's 6th goal in 7 league games at the Etihad Stadium. He deserved the congratulations of his colleagues
City give away a free kick just outside the penalty area though Leicester claimed it was just in!
The free kick is deflected just wide but the visiting fans thought it was a goal!
a header by Aguero is well saved by the keeper
a Vardy shot goes wide
Schwarzer is busy at the other end
Toure tries to drive through
Hart saves at the feet of Vardy
Nugent misses a great chance but he was offside
A shot from Yaya Toure is well saved once more by Schwarzer
Aguero shoots over
Milner on for Bony
The Leicester Keeper saves once more
Silva's effort is saved
Toure shoots wide
City clear a corner
With only a few minutes to go Toure passes to Navas who dashes down the wing and crosses.....
...and there is Milner who scores easily to make it two nil and game over
He took the goal well and he says thank you to his provider Navas
