So Tevezgate was finally sorted by intervention by Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak and Everton's winning streak against City at Eastlands continued and City failed to be top of the league on Christmas Day. It was a very very cold evening and City completely dominated the game but the failure to stop Everton scoring early in the game meant that they could play 11 men behind the ball at times. Howard saved them on several occasions but the need for a new striker is much more apparent. Balotelli is acting like a spoilt child staying down far too much. Tevez worked hard but Silva's passing was a little off key for once - his defence splitting efforts just off course. We missed de Jong in midfield and for once the central defence was not on song in the early stages when it mattered. Zabaleta as usual played strongly despite his injury. All is not lost - we are still in a healthy position but we must score early at home. Much has been made in the media about the Tevez transfer saga. personally I never thought he would leave. We have just got to get used to getting a negative press -there are a lot of jealous people out there!

In the absence of the suspended de Jong, Milner came into the side and with Zabaleta now first choice right back both Boateng and Richards were on the bench. However main interest was whether Tevez would continue to skipper the side. Out he came as usual to generous applause.
Everton were quick to put pressure on the City goal but it was slack marking that enabled Tim Cahill to score with a simple header after just three minutes. Disaster!
After ten minutes Silva had a chance but his shot just went into the side netting
Zabaleta had several clashes with Cahill and after one such clash he went off for treatment for a head injury.
A group of Everton fans wore an unusual type of headgear for the occasion.
On 14 minutes Balotelli had a header saved by Howard
On 18 minutes Everton went two up. Sloppy defending again led to Cahill setting up Baines who shot past Hart into the far corner. Double Disaster! At this stage Zabaleta had still not come back onto the field and City were playing with ten men..
City started to wake up to the situation and this Milner effort was blocked by the massed Everton defence.
Fellaini gets a yellow card for a foul on Tevez
Howard takes the ball over the line for a corner
A free kick taken by Kolarov for a foul on Barry.......
.....is well saved by Howard for a corner which Everton manage to clear
Yaya Toure is beaten by Jagielka
At half time Johnson was warming up on the pitch so we knew there was going to be a change
Howard was soon in action in the second half saving from Kolarov
Kolarov again shooting but just wide of the post
Anichebe got a yellow card for a foul on Hart and 5 minutes later he got a red for a second yellow for a foul on Zabaleta
On 71 minutes City got a goal back when a shot from Toure was deflected into goal by Jagielka.
City looked certain to have equalized when on 75 minutes Balotelli chipped the keeper b ut the ball hit the post.....
.... and came out only for Howard to retrieve the situation for Everton
Shortly after Howard made a terrific save to deny Tevez
It just was not going to be City's day as Kolo Toure was sent off in extra time for two yellow cards - stupid!
Hart 6.5: Zabaleta 7.5, K.Toure 6, Kompany 6.5, Kolarov 7.5: Y Toure 6.5, Barry 6.5, Milner 6 ( Johnson 6.5) , Silva 7.5, Balotelli 5 ( Jo) Tevez 7.5
