Taken on my first visit to China back in 1978. China had not long opened its doors to Westerners so we were always the focus of attention. This was taken in Canton as it was known then. As I entered the room the scene I immediately saw all the aliments of the picture- from the coat hanging on the left to the open door on the right with the man working so delicately on the vase centre stage - but dominating the scene are the two portraits and the written doctrines.
